I’ve been playing a lot of Black Ops since release. I just finished the campaign up (which just got better and better) and I’m currently level 44 in Multiplayer. I wanted to write some stuff about Black Ops that didn’t involve a “my thoughts” or just a review, but more so something about the gameplay. The multiplayer aspect of Black Ops packs more depth than we’ve ever seen in a Call of Duty game before, and it’s what I’ll be looking at right now.
When it comes to multiplayer, I’m a big, drooling fanboy over the Assault Rifles – it’s been like this for every online FPS I’ve ever played. In Black Ops, it’s no different. I usually rock an AR or SMG but nothing really else – a shotty if I’m feeling jumpy. In COD especially, Assault Rifles are always high-powered and mid-range to long-range weapons that reign supreme over pretty much anything else. Except in a rocket fight… if you round the corner and the guy fires a rocket at your face you’re pretty much finished.
So, yes! Assault Rifles! What’s to hate? They’re the most balanced of the weapon classes, doing everything all the other weapon classes do but not quite as well. That’s okay though, because think about it. Wouldn’t you rather have something like this rather than a petty screwdriver? That’s the mentality the Assault Rifle carries.
What Assault Rifle should you choose, though? There’s a big selection in Black Ops, ten to be exact. Unfortunately, I haven’t played with all of them just yet because of my level, but I’ll be adding those in when I unlock them. So here’s my Assault Rifle guide, enjoy.
