It was a beautiful friday afternoon here in North Vancouver. I felt like I should take advantage of a day like it, so naturally I called up a friend and we decided to meet at the mall.
After getting some lunch, we headed to EB Games. While Conor ranted about how ridiculously overpriced some of the games were (as usual) I scowered the small selection of PC games in the corner for something half-decent and cheap. Feeling satisfied with his rant for the day, Conor came over and began to look with me. There wasn’t much… a copy of WoW, some C&C games, Everquest I and II along with some expansions, and Lord of The Rings Online.
Having heard pretty good things about it, we both bought a copy each for around five bucks and headed home to install them.
The next day, after downloading a couple years worth of patches for LOTRO (overnight too I might add) we launched the game and created our characters. We went with dwarves (of course) because they’re the most badass race out of the four offered. Humans? Meh. Elves? No. Hobbits… definitely not.
Anyway, after geting through the beginning zone and the end instance (in which my computer ended up crashing) we logged both of us at level 7. I’m on the right, in all my dwarf pimp glory. I went as Barrgor, a minstrel (healer-type class) and Conor went as Darnori, a Guardian (which is basically a tank).

Anyway, hopefully I will record more of our adventures soon. So far, the game is pretty decent. It feels a lot like Dungeons & Dragons Online (which is by the same developer) and it does look nice. We both agreed however that it doesn’t always feel like a LOTR game. Still pretty good so far though.
Until next time, this has been MMO Experiments with myself and Trace.
